When we set an event to repeat, we must indicate the frequency at which the event should repeat, and the total number of events that we want to create.

Once a repeating series exists, it is possible to edit and make changes to each individual event, or to the whole series.

Any time we open an event editor and click to 'save' the changes, Beebop will ask if we want to apply those changes to that specific event, or just to all future events in the series, or to the whole series.

If one of the changes we made to a repeating event involves adding or removing participants, Beebop will also ask if we wish to 'replace' or 'merge' the participants for all the events.

Moving / resizing events using drag & drop

The usual drag & drop calendar interface can be used for any event belonging to a repeat series. This will ALWAYS result in editing only the single event we touched (the other events remain unchanged).

Even when moving or resizing events this way, Beebop will still check for potential clashes of people and assets (preventing the move in case of asset clashes).

Deleting individual events in a repeating series

If we want to create a series of weekly lectures and skip one week for the mid-term break, the easiest option is to create a full series of events and then manually delete the one we do not need.

Clicking on the 'delete' button we will be asked if we wish to delete just this event, this and all future events, or the entire series.

Deleting one event from a repeating series will automatically update the total number of events displayed in the editor.

Adding / removing events in a repeating series

It is possible to make a repeating series shorter or longer by changing the total number of events in the editor. Note that events will be added or removed counting from the last event in a series.

Advanced operations (repeat sequence ID)

Clicking on 'advanced operations' we can reveal the unique ID given to all the events in the current series.

Using this ID number we can search the calendar for every instance of this repeating series (very useful when some of the events have been renamed, moved, deleted).

The button for 'change to normal events' is used to remove the ID from all the events, effectively turning them back to completely independent events. This can be useful as a work around for the restrictions described below, or as a way to start new repeating sequences from one of the events.

Restrictions on repeating events

Events who are part of a repeating series cannot have their event type changed. If we need to turn a series of events from, say, 'lecture' to 'self-registration' we can either delete all the events and start again, or use the button for 'change to normal events' and then manually apply the changes to each individual event.

Another restriction is that it is not possible to change the 'event date' from within the editor. The only way to move an individual event to a different date is by using the drag & drop interface.
